LOL I know i thought it was awesome. Sony even included their own BETA tape player in the closet so they were very fair. These are so cool.

This is how these things are meant to work.

Hopefully they'll also being posted on neutral and gamer sites.

You actually think these were endorsed by anyone from the BDA?

They may be funny, but I cannot believe they are official. And why would Sony be okay admitting that Betamax belonged in the junk closet?

Perhaps they're just able to admit their past mistakes and move on?

PS What's the square root of a negative number? :-)

I agree, I would be cautious about attributing them to the BDA, but pretty darned funny stuff!

As far as the Betamax goes: c'mon, where can you find a Betamax tape of any movie anymore? I think it was the perfect choice: the public chose VHS over Betamax, even though the format wasn't officially dead, just not feasable in keeping around for the home user anymore...

Man, I didn't know I had to be able to do math to come here!

Maybe, maybe . . . my vote is that these ads are the work of people with some free time, is all. They are funny, but I could see them doing more harm than good in the long run. Only my two cents, though.

The coaster one was a classic! I just love the nonchalant look on the guy's face as he puts the drink in the "coaster".

I just searched the BDA website, and no sign of these vids on there. That said, excellent work by some fans, those are just really, really funny stuff. As far as them doing more harm than good, I don't think so, as they're not (again, so far as I can tell) officially endorsed. Plus they're made in fun, not FUD. There's nothing being said about the format other than that its time is done.

Of course, this is from a Blu-ray fan's point of view, so I'm sure that there's plenty of HD DVD fans that won't have the same sense of humor (but I'm betting the majority of them will. Funny is funny)...

Ya, they could have thrown in a VHS player to boot, but now that I think about it, I think they're mocking "the next best thing" in terms of equipment that was supposed to be the future but was short-lived (notice that there were no cassette tapes, either)
