Sony is a cheater?

According to Blurayfreak.com, Sony is stealing the web identity of another company to boost the traffic on the Blu-ray disc official web site.

How wrong is it? Are they ready to do anything to win a bit of traffic?

well, since the url wasn't registered, sony is well within their rights to do this. is it a form of squatting, yes. now, i just did a lookup on both of the names and they were registered in jan '06. did the merger occur later as mentioned in the article? i can't tell you. however, this is within anyones legal rights to do.

so no, they are not cheating.

The domains were registered using "Domains by Proxy" so the whois information is anonymous. All we know right now is that someone registered the domains and they are forwarding to the official BDA web site, why or by whom we have no idea so I think it's unfair to call out Sony before the facts are known. Anyone that wanted to could have registered the domains and then simply started forwarding them to blu-raydisc.com.

aside from the fact that it may not have been sony. it could be just some fan, unhappy client, or another member of the BDA as well

You are right, nybody could have done it. But a company that does a press release saying that Sony did it, must have info we can't have.

Otherwise "they" are in deep trouble...

come on now. we aren't saying no one did it. what we're saying is that there is no proof to support that any even associated with the BDA did it.
