Default Harry Potter 1 - US - UK Versions

I know the only difference is the name for the first film...

US - Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
UK - Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone

Where there any differences in the other films?

Question is, will the UK version play on the US PS3? IE, is it region free? I am interested in getting the film in it's INTENDED namesake and not some screwed up rubbish that was made for the US.

Any Brit's want to help me out here.

The only difference in the first movie is that they shot some of the scenes twice whenever they mention the words, philosopher or sorcerer.

The rest of the movies... I don't believe there are any differences.

The UK BD version has US warnings. (Fine of $..... etc)
I haven't paid attention to the actual movie, whether they use philosopher or sorcerers

I wouldn't be suprised if they used seamless branching either

Look at it this way. The ability to "one disc for the world" since they insist on including dub tracks makes Blu all that more attractive to WB, because I'm sure they have to press at least 2, maybe 3 different HD DVDs to fit everything intheir limited bandwidth

On the Philosopher's/Sorceror's scenes, not to put up other titles

I believe a separate edition was prepared for US consumers. The rest of the other 4 movies feature tons of subtitles and audio tracks while there's only English, Spanish and French on the US edition of Philosopher's Stone.

I have the Philosopher's edition from Canada on DVD. I've been debating whether to get the BD from canada as well. I've got the boxed set coming from Warner.
It's a really subtle change, but to me, Philosopher is the "original/right" version of the movie. It's silly that in the US it was ever called Sorceror's Stone in the first place.

So wait, the Canadian version is Philosopher as well?

EDIT: Nm looks like it is. I changed my order to Amazon.ca - too bad they're so incredibly slow with international orders when you select cheap shipping.

Agreed. I would like the original version. Not some changed one.

Default International and US Comparisons

Here are some screenshots. I'm working on a video comparison as well.

Why? I'm trying to help people see some of the differences between the US and International versions of this movie. These screenshots were originally in one of the UE threads, but I didn't want them buried in there.

Not really a big deal, but it's amazing how many of the long dead threads are still searchable.

Wow, it seems that they actually shot the scene twice with different props!

I have the Canada version of the DVD and like the UK version, it uses "Philosopher's Stone." I didn't buy that version intentionally. I bought it off Ebay and the stupid seller never informed me that it was the Canada version. I hate it because I want the proper "Sorcerer's Stone" version. That's the version that everyone in the US knows about, so that was what I wanted. I'm thinking of upgrading it to BD just to get the US version.
