Default Sony KDL46XBR2 46 inch Bravia Flat Screen LCD TV

I was thinking about buying this lcd that recently came out
Sony KDL46XBR2 46 inch Bravia Flat Screen LCD TV Sony-KDL46XBR2
Does anyone have any good news about this tv, local SEARS has a br2 unit for top dollar what sony charges $4299.00. I live in Hawaii on Maui so ordering from a cheaper source through the internet is risky for multiple reasons.
Opinions please, plan to run blue ray etc. on it
http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...tv_size_30to42
Since it might be sony's flagship tv that supports blue ray resolution I put this topic here.

That is a great set, I love it. I would also look into the KDL46V2500 as well. It too can be found on Sony's website. It uses the same panel as the XBR, it just lacks the DRC v2.5. Depending on what you watch on the set, the DRC could be a moot point for you and you could save some money.

The X series is the closest you can get for superb LCD image from Sony. Next to the SXRD sets.

Perfect for viewing HD content (up to 1080p) and is also good for SDTV and EDTV. Also, it isn't that heavy either compared to the SXRD which is fat and heavy.

Only potential downside is that its response time is slow at 8 ms. While it may be sufficient for a few games, other games may show delay and bad motion.

Other than that, it's the only stop-gap you have before Sony releases its 8G sets and when S-LCD 8G production factory goes online next year.

That TV is the same one we get here in the states as the XBR series.

8ms is pretty slow so you might get some blur and ghosting. I'd probably wait for the 8g to come out as it will most likely be like 4ms response time.

8ms is slow?

I thought 8ms is the best you could get, for tv's.

I dont know about people saying 8ms is slow? My monitor for my pc is 8ms and have absolutly no ghosting at all movies games etc. All most every lcd I seen is lowest at 8ms.

4ms panels are out there you just gotta look for them and be willing to pay the difference. Personally I can notice the difference very profoundly when I compare an lcd to plasma or crt.

Ok I got my tv and am running it with digital cable through a cable box. Thing is on regular tv, certain channels the pixels are there in your face, while my old 46 inch tv you could see no pixels. Is this normal, I mean I just want a clear picture for all my channels, some channels seem to have a better signal(less pixles you see)then others.
Also it has a digital optical output for sound but when I put that in my harman kardon receiver it doesnt seem to pick up on my receiver.

I think I am gonna buy a 3LCD tv from Sony, it has 3ms responsetime!

I will buy one in between March and July next year, I hope 1080p 32" 3LCD tv is out by then. If 32" is even possible with 3LCD by then.

Ok I just hooked up my first Hd-Dvr box and hooked up through the 3 cables(not HDMI, Yet). On Hd channels I need to put my Tv into FULL mode and when I go back to regular channels I need to go to Wide Zoom mode. This is a nuissance any suggestions?

Off topic from Blu-Ray I know but ..... the post is already here

Set the 4:3 default to Wide Zoom.
The 16:9 material will default to "Full" automatically.

The pixels you see is because the TV is much sharper, so you see every flaw in the signal.

The optical out on the TV only works when you are using the built in tuner.

Did that but still when I go to high definition channels I have to switch to Full Mode and when I go back to regular channels I have to go to Wide Zoom. I also notice on my old 16:9 tv dvds would take up the whole screen, now I get the famous black bars on top and lower part of screen.

Oh now it goes to full mode and wide zoom automatically since I just hooked it up through hdmi right now.<<<<<<<<

Only thing I dont like is that when you mute the tv it says mute in the lower left and doesnt go away.
