Default From a Whisper to a Scream (The Offspring) Vincent Price - coming via Scream Factory

**NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT**

Our month-long "Shocktober" celebration continues with another film to reveal. In Feb 2015, the 1987 anthology horror film FROM A WHISPER TO A SCREAM (otherwise known as THE OFFSPRING) will make its debut on the Blu-ray format.

Directed by Jeff Burr (The Stepfather 2, Pumpkinhead II, Texas Chainsaw Massacre III and Puppetmaster 4 & 5), the film stars legendary king of horror Vincent Price, Clu Gulager (The Return of the Living Dead, A Nightmare on Elm Street 2), Susan Tyrell (Angel, Butcher Baker Nightmare Maker) and Cameron Mitchell (Silent Scream, The Toolbox Murders).

Artwork you see here is final (and we will strive to make the reverse art as “The Offspring” – no promises at this time.) There are no details on extras at this time but they will be announced before the end of the year.

YES! Another DVD I can add to the trade/sale pile! I'm a little surprised they didn't save this for a third Vincent collection down the road.

The Vincent Price sets all feature films where he is the main attraction, the star.

Despite getting top billing in From a Whisper to a Scream, he's only in the wraparound story. He's telling the stories to a reporter I believe at the town library.

Regardless I love this film, so I'm excited for this announcement. Hopefully Scream keeps up with the announcements this month. Really hoping for more MGM catalog titles (Frogs, Tentacles, Empire of the Ants, Troll/Troll 2, Ghoulies 1/2, Poltergeist 2/3)

There's still enough Vincent Price titles to do a third and possibly a fourth set: The Oblong Box, Scream and Scream Again, Cry of the Banshee, Tales of Terror, Twice-Told Tales, Madhouse, Theater of Blood, An Evening of Edgar Allan Poe, The Tingler, Tower of London, Master of the World, House of the Long Shadows.

I think Scream has plenty of titles to access yet. Looking forward to whatever they announce.

Im getting this easily.. I keep hearing that there is a chance that some of the Price titles are going to different labels...Id say it's 50/50 we get a Price III but its such a long way away until we know for certain what the deal is. I think 2015 is going to be a year for us older sci fi horror fans

Yeah Price's screen time in this one is pretty minimal so it makes sense that it's not part of a larger set. Love the movie and can't wait to pick it up.

Adam Tyner gives a rave* review:

Quote:
Lavished with a new transfer and one of the most phenomenal special editions in Scream Factory's sprawling catalog, From a Whisper to a Scream readily ranks among the label's most essential releases.
Two full-length docs (totalling a whopping 203 minutes) and two commentaries! This movie was one that seemed to have a mixed reputation, but Tyner's hearty praise (for both the film and the extras) really has me looking forward to it.

*Except for the - shocker! - encoding:

Quote:
Scream Factory's AVC encoder -- shaky enough under the best of circumstances -- is completely out of its depth here...Scream Factory's encoding pipeline is broken, and I wish they'd hurry up and do something about it.
Still, that's just par for the course at this point, and the disc is 'otherwise extraordinary'. Scream really went the extra mile on this release.

The additional signees at Dark Delicacies are still TBA, but watch their Facebook page for updates.

Wow, Jeff Burr deserves every accolade for what he gave Scream for this disc. Amazing.

Amazing disc by all accounts, but is it just me that gets put off by lots of longer extras? I tend to put them off or forget about them in my impatience to get onto enjoying the next new disc/film. Some are really good though when I do make the time.

Nah. I have the same problem. If the extras are more than an hour or so, I tend to put off watching them rather than going straight into it. Often times I would rather just watch another film that view extras.

I wouldn't say I'm "put off" by more comprehensive extras. That seems rather silly. It's GREAT that they are there. I think perhaps a better term to use would be "overhwhelmed" by extras - because i have to admit I sometimes set them aside and then never go back to them (even if i intended to, the sheer volume of blu-rays and then their extra features makes watching them all impossible for me).

Just you. I wasn't interested in this until I read that review about the extra features. They sound more interesting than the movie itself! Definitely going to get it now.

I'm only put off when they're kinda shitty, i.e. the 70 minute making-of for Nightbreed that had no focus or much of a point. A good making-of is never long enough.
