Default Most expensive Blu-Ray disc ever (David Gilmour) ? (UK)

Now I know you can buy this disc on-line for much cheaper, however I couldn't believe my eyes when I went into a local Virgin to buy
David Gilmour: Remember That Night

In the UK this retails at £40 (~ $82).
However, Virgin were selling it for a whopping £54 ( ~$112), £14 ABOVE the RRP.

Needless to say I didn't make a purchase !

I'll be buying this on-line, but it's really disappointing that a title like this is region locked (according to http://bluray.liesinc.net ) , so I can't import.
The US version has a much more friendly $35 list price.

I hate rip-off UK that’s why I get what I can from the US

(start of rant)
I mean the 5 hp films from play UK is £89.95 from the shops £124.95
I ordered the box set with the bonus disc from the US for only $84.48 = £40.75 that is including shipping
(end of rant)

yes uk prices are a rip off....i would suggest buying online play.com and amazon.co.uk...but importing is much cheaper i say u will save half the price

but if your looking to shop in a retail shop i would suggest blockbuster i ahve found them to be cheapest retail wise the prices match those on the net

When I was in Europe this summer I wanted to pick up a few Blu Rays that were not available back home in the US so I went to FNAC and Virgin.

Virgin was just impossible. Every title was significantly over-priced. I was impressed.

The good thing about it is it makes you think you've been getting incredible deals everywhere else.

That said,.. Here Best Buy wants too much for this title. These places just pretend Amazon doesn't exist I guess.

Agree with the Rip Off Comments here and it is unusual for a Sony BD to be region locked, but it seems this one might have fallen foul of US v International rights. The BD in Europe is being distributed by EMI and not Sony as they are the current holder of rights to Pink Floyd and Gilmour in the UK & Europe. So it seems they have made sure it is locked to cream as much profit for themselves as possible..

comes from giving people like Robbie Williams 80M for 5 albums and getting a cpl of coasters in return, just looking to cash in on what would be a highly desirable disc

Well at least Planet Earth is a box with 4 discs.
This store in downtown Brussels wanted to sell me an american import of Troy's director's cut for € 53,- which is not far from 80 Dollars !!!
But thanks to a friend's credit card, I could get it on amazon.com for 25 dollars or so

guys buy a USA player, be it a PS3 or the new Panasonic BD30 (£250 ebay) and say goodbye to crappy uk pricing.

Keep you UK player for any region exclusives. look how the USA versions of fims are getting the PiP treatment etc and we wont for a time.

media pricing for BD is a steal and then you can also make better use of the bogo deals as well. long run you save money.
