Hey guys, I really love Robocop(1987) and Terminator(1984). They're both similar in a lot of ways:
-Both are tech-noir -Released in mid 1980's -Strong science fiction theme -Cult followings But can anyone give me a sense of ways in which they're different? |

Robocop is a man put inside a robotic 'armor' but still has human emotions and memories. Terminator is a pure cyborg killing machine with synthetic humanoid looks to blend in
Different directors, obviously RoboCop has more of a satirical slant, while Terminator is a straight up sci-fi, action/horror film Both make use of stop motion (ED-209 and T-800 endoskeleton) Last edited by MrStayPuft; 11-16-2014 at 08:59 AM. |

Holy crap. I picked up my computer and was about to throw it out of the window when I at the last second saw that your thread wasn't about a new remake/fusion "Robocop Vs The Terminator" movie. Don't scare people like that again.

Sounds like Engage is a student looking for help on an essay.
Yes, they're completely different. One's a horror film about a woman running from an unstoppable monster, which stands out in that the monster is a product of Cameron's technophobia, so the thing plays as sci-fi rather than a creature feature. The other's a goofy satire of corporate culture and a whose central cyborg is a Christ metaphor, not a monster. |

In a fight Robocop would win but then Skynet would just send another Terminator back for another go.

I've posed this question to people before. Should Robocop be considered a superhero?
I think he should but I don't think he's ever thought of or portrayed that way. But I feel he fits the description, especially with his abilities. |

Robocop is more like the fascist characteristics of Judge Dredd.
And with Robocop being a 'superhero', he is as much as Iron Man and Batman is. |
