Default It’s What I Do

Quote:
EXCLUSIVE: In a whirlwind auction, Warner Bros is closing a deal for It’s What I Do: A Photographer’s Life Of Love and War, a memoir by Lynsey Addario that has Steven Spielberg attached to direct and Jennifer Lawrence to star, with Andrew Lazar producing. The memoir has been the hot title since it was excerpted by The New York Times Magazine, and there were no shortage of bidders for the life of a woman who goes into the most dangerous places in the world in search of truth.

Here’s who the bidders were: Working Title was angling to get it for Reese Witherspoon; Darren Aronofsky has been trying to get it for Natalie Portman, The Wolf of Wall Street‘s Margot Robbie was after it, and The Weinstein Company was bidding for George Clooney and Grant Heslov. The subject met with the bidders and everyone was sold on her remarkable personal and professional life.

These are all very formidable choices, but how do you compete with a package of Spielberg directing, and Hollywood’s top young actress in Lawrence? Warner Bros previously got close with Spielberg on American Sniper–Lazar produced–and the big Moses movie Gods and Kings, and now maybe the third time will be the charm. ICM is repping the author.

I would prefer some other actress though. Also I would prefer a new Indy.

Damn it! beat me too it!

But Spielberg and Jen together in one film?!

And Oh, this certainly came out of nowhere! I know there was a bunch of movies she's either in talks to do, or will produce/star in.

I don't think Spielberg is starring.

You know what I meant. Him directing and Jen starring.

I loved all the movies he did in the 80's and 90's. Whether it was direct or produce.

I mean ET, JAWS, Indiana Jones, Gremlins, Goones, Jurassic Park, and i could go on about movies from my childhood.

Psyched about the subject matter.

Psyched about J-Law.

Not-Psyched-At-All about Spielberg. But hey, who knows? Maybe this will be one of the few of his pics that I actually think a lot of, like Munich, Schindler's List.

Still after all those films I mentioned I'm excited. Sure I haven't seen a Spielberg directed film in nearly 10 years. I think the last one was in 2005 with War Of The Worlds. But with Jen attached I'll be willing to give it a shot. Because as i said. I'm still a fan of his from his earlier works.

The last Spielberg film I saw -- AND enjoyed (as opposed to Lincoln, for example) -- was Munich. That was a hell of a film. But it was also 2005.

Just having your name associated with Spielberg. You can't get any better than that! Spielberg is the king of Hollywood! She'll end up having so many Oscar noms and maybe wins by the age of 30.

She won't have to worry about needing work. She'll likely have to end up turning down some work Because she won't have all the time. So she has the following movies with her name attached in one way or another.

Passengers
The Dive
Burial Rites
The Glass Castle
Ends of the Earth
East of Eden
It's What I Do

One i hope she ends up doing the most is Passengers. Read that script and just loved it.

So I wonder when they will start filming this. 2016 for a 2017 Oscar release?

Girl on fire certainly isn't just a nickname. She seems to be one of the busiest and most in demand actresses in Hollywood working today.

She certainly isn't going anyway anytime soon for sure.

We know what happens with Spielberg, though -- he frequently drops out at the last minute.

Oh boy. How will the haters come back from this?

This is huge for Lawrence. Looking forward to this collaboration.

I don't know. It might kill them.

But yes. This is certainly a career high in already a highlighted career of hers. Seems like every director wants to work with her. But I am certainly looking forward to this!

Confirmed

THG: Mockingjay Part 2 (Francis Lawrence)
Joy (David O. Russell)
X-Men: Apocalypse (Bryan Singer)

Possible

The Dive (Francis Lawrence, James Cameron)
It's What I Do (Steven Spielberg)
Passengers (Morten Tyldum)

Potentially In This Decade

The Glass Castle (Destin Cretton)
East of Eden (Gary Ross)
Burial Rites (Gary Ross)
Rules of Inheritance (Susanne Bier)

And if Weinstein gets his way

The Ends of the Earth

That is 11 movies. So whether they all happen who knows.

He COULD. Whether he CAN is a different question altogether. It's been nearly a decade since he's made what could be called a good film. And even then he was working on broken ground.

But as I said, I'm into the premise and I'm into the star.

Are you sure you're as old as you've been saying you are?

A decade is like ten minutes ago in old people time.
