I was so impressed with the 3D blu of 'Creature From The Black Lagoon' that I am hoping to see its sequel get a release as well? Maybe as part of a Universal Classic Monsters Collection Vol. II ?? Anybody hear anything? Thanks to all responses!

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment (UPHE) has identified a manufacturing issue which may affect the presentation of the 3D Blu-ray offering of the film Revenge of the Creature, released on August 28 , 2018 as part of the Universal Classic Monsters: Complete 30-Film Collection and the Creature From the Black Lagoon Complete Legacy Collection. The issue is isolated to this particular film and does not affect any other discs in the collections. UPHE’s goal is to always deliver the best possible product to its consumers. To that end, a replacement program is being established to ensure that those who have purchased either collection have the opportunity to receive a corrected Blu-ray disc featuring the 3D version of Revenge of the Creature and 2D version of The Creature Walks Among Us, should they encounter the issue. To receive an updated disc, please email USHEConsumerRelations@visionmediamgmt.com.

Update: The US replacement disc fixes the issue with the 3D version but the 2D version has received some criticism to the extent that Koch *apparently* used the other eye on their release in Germany. They also put the film on its own disc, rather than paired up with The Creature Walks Among Us as it is on Universal's US release. The UK edition is the same as the corrected American edition, with the sequels together on one disc.

In all editions, disc 1 is Universal's The Creature From The Black Lagoon exactly as previously released on 3D Blu-ray. The same goes for the disc in the 30-film set.

There is currently no standalone 3D Blu-ray release of Revenge Of The Creature, only a full-frame anaglyph version:

Interesting historical info about the sequel:

The film is notable for being the only 3-D film to be released in 1955 and the only 3-D sequel to a 3-D film. The movie was released May 11, 1955, in the United States. It was followed by a sequel in 1956, The Creature Walks Among Us.

Hopefully Universal did well with their recent blu ray Monster Collection. I hope to hear an announcement that they are releasing the sequels to those movies and include the other two CFTBL movies in 3D.

Think that only the second CFTBL sequel was produced in 3D.

By 1956 Hollywood stopped 3D production efforts across the board..

It was 'Revenge of the Creature' that was done in 3D. The 3rd Creature movie, 'The Creature Walks Among Us' was shot flat.

I hope they announce 'Creature from the Black Lagoon' on it's own! I've never seen that movie, but one of my best friends is a big monster movie fan. For her recent birthday her parents gave her the Universal Monsters collection and she excitedly brought the film to my house on the day of the Superbowl because I have 3D. We didn't have time to watch the whole thing, but I was truly blown away by the depth and pop out effects! Even a super grainy underwater scene of fish had the little guys and the bubble around them dancing right in front of my eyeballs so it made up for it.

If this came out on it's own, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Yep - so that makes this "3D" release of Revenge of The Creature a complete fail. We'll, maybe not a COMPLETE fail, but it is a disappointment.

The entire Creature From The Black Lagoon trilogy is an absolute personal favorite. The third installment, The Creature Walks Among Us, was not released in 3D, but it sure is a great story. All of them are.

Amazingly, the "Creature" seems to be horny all the time. That beast constantly goes after the sexy female star in each of these Jack Arnold/William Alland films.

Several years ago, there was a report circulating on the Internet that a remake of Creature From The Black Lagoon was in the works that was rumored to star Bill Paxton with Ron Howard directing. Apparently, the project never got off the drawing boards.

Glad we have the first Creature on blu-ray (and 3D blu-ray). I still enjoy the sequels on old ray DVD, but I would love to see them restored and released on blu-ray some day. The same could be said of any number of the amazing 50s Universal "Monsters" movies, such as It Came From Outer Space (3D), This Island Earth (which stars Jeff Morrow and Rex Reason who play the leads in Creature Walks Among Us), Tarantula (it's been released on blu-ray in Germany), Monster On The Campus, The Monolith Monsters (also available on blu in Germany), The Leech Woman and several others.

As recently as last month there was talk of Universal still wanting to do the remake, this time with Scarlett Johansson.

If it does go ahead, I hope they'll at least use the opportunity to finally go to the expense of mastering Revenge of the Creature in 3-D. It'd cost a fraction of what they've sunk into some of their ill-fated remakes, and it'd probably stand a better chance of paying off. A box-set of the original trilogy with polarized 3-D options would be most welcome.

The creature still continues to sell quite a bit of merchandise. If they'd reinvest just some of that money into a 3-D master they'd have an asset they could sell for many years to come.
