Default Mad Max: The Wasteland

“We’ve got one screenplay and a novella. It happened because with the delays [on 'Fury Road'], and writing all the backstories, they just expanded,” Miller explained on The Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith about the genesis of the followup films. And while he hasn't gotten around to storyboarding them — give the guy a break, he only finished 'Fury Road' a few of weeks before it opened around the world — he says the next entry is titled, “Mad Max: The Wasteland.” So ruminate on what that might mean for the next adventures of Max Rockatansky. However, in an alternate universe, 'Fury Road' would've already been released with a different actor in the lead role

I know I'm going to do my part by seeing Fury Road multiples times in the theater (and because I really want to) and purchase it on blu-ray day one! Hopefully Fury Road has a good run in theaters.

He'll be dead in 30 years so this one has to move a little quicker. Please?

Based on filming to post on Fury Road, I'll say it sees the light of day in 2019, which will sadly be after the fall of New York.

EDIT: Really? Nobody got that Italian post-apocalyptic movie reference? Disappointed, guys.

I would love to see a Furiosa movie as well though. I know Theron said that there was a whole backstory to how she lost her arm but wouldn't elaborate because she said they might use it for more movies.

This will never happen unless the film is VASTLY more inexpensive than the first.

If by "whoever" you mean "Furiosa," then I vote 100% whoever.

Not necessarily. Look at Pacific Rim. It didn't do gangbusters and is getting a sequel. If this is a huge hit overseas, then it'll happen. Worldwide box office is becoming more important than domestic these days.

I'd be happy with a sequel that was less action heavy, exploring more of the wasteland. If it meant a smaller budget I'm cool with that, I just want more Max adventures.

Probably. I think the reviews will create a long tail at the box office and good home media numbers, which will help green-light a sequel. It will likely have a budget cut though.

I think this would actually be a hidden blessing, really. Would force him to go a little more low-key and character focused for the sequel, which I would like to see. Not knocking Fury Road, I would just like to see something different next time. Fury Road, like Road Warrior, is a particular kind of relentless action that doesn't work over and over IMO.
