hi guys just got the samsung bdp-1400 and it wont allow me to update to the new firmware. Does any one know why, and would you go with the sharp, new panasonic, or new sony bluray player instead?

Panny! Or the PS3. Nothing better. Youll find both to be the most recommended BD players around these parts - and whilst I know all the technical details, it is late. And I am sleepy.

Ethernet or disc? Ethernet would not work for me , had to make a disc.Also I traded it in even after the firmware v 1.2 still had issues.I got the Panasonic DMP-BD30.No problems.

I have the 1400 and I have had no problems with it, I use the internet to update. You just have to watch it when doing it, because it'll down load the update then it'll ask you if you want to install it, but you only have like 1 min to hit enter for yes else it won't install the update and you'll have to download it all over again. I love the sammy 1400 I have it bit streaming to my pioneer 94thx, and it's played all my bd and I have over a hundred now. I think it's a good player

Well i also got Superbad and during random parts of the movie the sound would go in and out. would this be the movie or the disc

I had the same problem w/3 different discs.Except both audio and video went out.This player received really good reviews I just imagine there are a few bad ones in the bunch like with anything.

Did you install the 1.2 firmware update?

YES
