Default Quentin Tarantino Planning Third Western

Quote taken from Empire Magazine who are in attendance at The Hateful Eight panel at San Diego Comic-Con:

Quote:
QT: "You have to make at least three Westerns to be called a Western director. I will definitely make three Westerns." #HatefulEight #sdcc
Source

No other info or details of when it might appear but there was this second quote:

Quote:
QT: "I do like the idea of ten and done, but we will see what happens. I usually make three movies a decade..." #HatefulEight #sdcc

Cool. But 3 in a row... I wish he'd do something else next.

Wish he'd take it easy on the revenge films too. Not that H8 or this new project are revenge films (I don't know). But if that's what's currently getting his creative juices pumping, then that's what he wants to do unfortunately for those who want something different.

He didn't say it was next. Just that he wants to do it.

Sorry, but the whole "I like the idea of ten and done" is really obnoxious. If you got movies you want to make and enjoy doing what you are doing, then you continue with it till it fades, not by setting some end date with a lame obligatory number that you think represents some nonexistent ideology of how directors no longer make good movies after a certain point.

Sounds like Kevin Smith who said he was done after so many. But has like 5 films plus a tv show lined up.

Tarantino admitted that he was wrong for thinking that and nothing is set in stone for him. But, he did say the day he can't shoot on film comes, he'll quit making movies.

Wish he'd focus on TWBA or Kill Bill 3 instead of another western. I love all his movies but come on dude...

I agree with the previous posters. Another Tarantino western would be cool but I don't want his next film to be a western. Well, unless it's a western with Uma Thurman in the lead role. He really needs to work with her again.

Tarantino is one of the few directors in Hollywood who can do whatever he wants, so I don't see Weinstein co. ever denying him to shoot on film.

I'll see how Hateful 8 goes, but more Tarantino is a plus to me, regardless of what he's doing (I'd rather his go back to modern day crime though).

Do you ever stop? Really. You never have nothing positive to say. Do you think everyone wants to see you just spout out negativity and complaints on every single thread? That's all I ever see from you. Nobody cares. You contribute nothing by doing that.

I would love to see this. The bride as an old west gunslinger. I don't care what Tarantino makes, I'm sure it'll be good. He has yet to dissapoint, other than Death Proof. I would love to see him do another crime drama though.

I'm down for more westerns, but I'd welcome a break in between. More modern crime would be sweet, as Foggy said, but I'd love to see another Asian-inspired film (I wonder if he could do a good samurai film). I'd also be interested to see how he handles other genres, like horror or a sci-fi movie.

He has expressed interest in sci-fi, specifically a "body snatchers"-type film.

A Tarantino body horror, paranoia thriller would be a dream come true.

Here's his exact quote from his last Comic Con appearance regarding whether he'd ever do a sci-fi film:

"If you had asked me a few years ago I would have said, ‘Nah, not really, I don’t know.’ But I have a little idea right now. It’s a little flower, you know, like a bean sprout, but those tend to grow into stalks. So this is the first time I’ll be able to say ‘maybe.’ It won’t be a spaceship sci-fi, it’ll be earthbound… A series that I would like to put a spin on is the Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. I want to take it from the pod people’s perspective, so you’re actually rooting for the pod people. I don’t think they’re so bad."
