Where did you get PS3 pre-sales info? - Blu-ray Forum

I was reading this article and it says:

Where did you get that info? I really want to know because i wanted to get a PS3 but if there are only 400 000 in North American and with over one million consoles pre-ordered, chances that i'll get mine this year are very low, if not none.

That's a good question which I'm sure a lot of people visiting our web site from various PS3 fan sites are wondering about

When we were at IFA (Sep 4-5) we talked to the Vice Chairman of the European Blu-ray Disc Association’, Sony Europe Director, David Walstra and he happend to mention it in our conversation so we included it in our report. I guess there's no way to know if it's true or not, but that's what he said to us. Keep in mind that this conversation took place just before Sony announced that they would post-pone the European launch (Sep 6), so I'm assuming this number included European pre-sales as well as US and Japanese.

Also, they're saying the target is 400,000 for launch day and 1 to 1.2 million units in North America by December 31:
Confirmed: 400,000 PS3s for US launch
