PS3 sales rebound in May, pre-MGS4

NPD numbers:
Wii: 675,000
PS3: 208,700
360: 186,600




Very interesting, as some analysts had predicted that the MS console would beat the PS3 soundly in May (it is pretty much a given that June should be a slaughter, unless BIG surprise).
Un-suprisingly, GTA IV is the big winner with more than 850k units, but I think that in June MGS4 will give it a run for its money, despite having 12 less days of sales in the month when compared to GTA.

I think (could be wrong) that the Wii has peaked. It will now go down slowly.
My office is organizing a game in our organization with 4 Wiis to win, I was fearing a problem to be able to even find em with the so called "shortages", but we could find the 4 Wiis without problem.

The Wii is so cheap that most can afford to buy it. If you dont like it, then oh well. You did not loose much and can probably resell it for about what you gave for it. Playing a game on the Wii is like drinking warm water. Your thirsty but know there is something much cooler somewhere else.

To me, if your a gamer, then you own a 360/ps3. I dont like the wii, for the most part its games are a gimmick and just a rehash of older franchise games with the new controls.

I think you can tell what the Wii is by the games that go with it.

The Zeldas and Metroids are being massively outsold by the party games.

"Normal gamer" games don't sell very well for the Wii in spite of how fast the console itself sells.

That's not to say there's anything wrong with Wii Sports and the like, they are fun, they just aren't a traditional game.

I'm seriously waiting to see the first third party "major" title developed and released for the Wii. If I had to predict, I'd guess it will sell terribly, trying to ram the wrong kind of game down a different kind of gamer's throat.

I agree, I was going to buy a Wii until I played it at a friends house. I wasn't impress with it at all, turn it off after playing about 30mins of Zelda.

I viewed the wii as what people bought because they are just now getting into gaming... kind of like the introduction to the gaming world for the elder folk or the really young kids.

360/PS3 seemed to be more for the seasoned "well-to-do" gamers who like their tech.


When the Nintendo "revolution" was announced I was very underwhelmed by the specs... in fact I would refer to it as a mildly upgraded game cube.

I agree, real gamers don't play it, the Wii is for little kids, IMHO. Nintendo Lost me after the SNES. Theres only so many Mario games I can play before the gimmick loses it's luster. Plus those games just look cheesy

I have to agree with that assessment. The whole "oh wow" factor disappeared about 2 months after I've had my launch day Wii. With the exception of the Nintendo-hyped first party games (Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Wii Fit, etc etc), I can't say I've had very many games that I've spent a good amount of time on the Wii versus the games on the PS3. And the gimmicky nonsense such as the lightsaber swinging through Wii-mote waving doesn't exactly grab me. In fact, its outright silly.
