Default Jennifer Lawrence joins Jason Reitman's The Big Lebowski live read in Montreal

The show is turning into 'X-Men' vs. 'Silicon Valley'

Quote:
The upcoming live read of The Big Lebowski in Montreal is shaping up to be a “natural, zesty enterprise,” thanks to Jennifer Lawrence.

Filmmaker Jason Reitman has been assembling a team to perform the Coen brothers’ classic dude-noir at the Just For Laughs comedy festival this Friday, and with Michael Fassbender agreeing to play the role originated by Jeff Bridges, they needed an equally formidable actress to take on Julianne Moore’s Maude Lebowski.

Luckily X-Men: Apocalypse is shooting in town, and Fassbender has been recruiting.

“As I heard it, Fassbender and the X-Men crew were flying back from Comic-Con to Montreal. Apparently, the whole cast is coming to watch him Friday night. He’s got a section for all his fellow X-Men,” Reitman tells EW. “We had not found our Maude, and Jennifer Lawrence wanted in. By the time they landed, we had our Maude.”

The one-night-only cast is turning into a mash-up between the mutants and the geeks, with much of the cast being rounded out by HBO’s Silicon Valley. In addition to Fassbender and Lawrence, Olivia Munn, who plays Psylocke in Apocalypse, will portray Bunny Lebowski, the role originated by Tara Reid.

The Silicon Valley team will be represented during the live read by T.J. Miller as Brandt, originated by the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, show creator Mike Judge as The Stranger, originated by Sam Elliott, and Martin Starr as The Jesus, played by John Turturro.

Veterans of Reitman’s Los Angeles live reads, Patton Oswalt and Mae Whitman, will also be performing in the roles of John Goodman’s Walter and Steve Buscemi’s Donnie, respectively.

Tickets are still available for the show – due to a last-minute venue change. “The event sold out so quickly that they moved us into a bigger theater,” Reitman said.

If you’re going to be in Montreal this Friday, here’s where to find tickets.

Anyone ever hear of people doing things like this before? I know a lot of people love The Big Lebowski.

So this is interesting she'll be reading the character her Mockingjay co-star Julianne Moore did. Jen also mentioned The Big Lebowski is one of her fave movies.

I also put these here since it still has to do with the movie. Canadians get everything good.
