Cool, I'll go see this on the big screen again, hopefully it comes to my town though.

Will it be actual prints or just streaming of the DVD/blu-ray?

It's Fathom, so it's just one presentation that's beamed to all participating cinemas. As for what transfer it'll use, I have no idea. Hopefully, it'll use the latest and greatest one.

Maybe it'll be the new 4K remastered that was just released on blu Ray.

Just got back from this and while the experience of seeing the movie with a crowd in a theater was fun, the picture looked no better than a standard def dvd. It appeared to be a stream and pretty much every time there was a cut to a new scene there was heavy motion lag(?) and an overall waviness to the picture. It was a very washed out look, detail was pretty non-existent, and I didn't notice any film grain; instead there appeared to be noise and artifacts. All in all, the presentation was much worse than the last Fantom even I saw (Jaws). They really need to step it up for future movie screenings or else charge no more than about five bucks for admission.

Fathom= MPEG-2 streaming. Basically satellite HDTV quality. It won't be anywhere close to a 2K DCP, let alone a 4K one.

Sorry to hear that, my friend. Fathom screenings are rip-offs in my opinion.

What are theatres trying to do, put themselves out of business? Everything is going to hell. Wish someone would step up and save us from all this cheap mediocrity everywhere. You have to pay a fortune for garbage anymore.

I saw they were having a special 25th anniversary for this in theaters. They played a little ad before I saw The Peanuts Movie yesterday.

Hard to believe that movie is 25 years old.

Going off topic I cant believe that Fright Night and Return of the Living Dead are 30 years old as they both played at an overnight Horror marathon on Halloween nights here and to make matter worse I was speaking to some people afterwards and they had never heard of either film

This is very depressing news. I was actually planning to see it this Wednesday, but if it's as bad as you say, it's not worth driving out and paying close to $10 when I can watch the blu-ray at home.

Saw it last night. I agree the picture wasn't what it should have been. Fathom has a way of doing that...

That said, it was great finally seeing the film on the big screen. This is one of my all time favorite comedies, so I had a great time with my girlfriend seeing it. This movie always hits all the right notes for me.
