Nah, of course it isn't.

Looks all sorts of pants though obviously. I think the January release date was pretty telling of that, along with it being dubbed a Supernatural Thiller (which is pretty much like saying it's not scary enough a ghost film to be called a horror.

)

They probably shot the whole thing in a couple of weeks in Georgia. Japan my bumhole.

Also what was up with that final jump scare, it was just a dude with a beard, it wasn't even a ghost of anything, I even think we're wearing that same shirt. Look.

I said to myself, "ooh, this looks good". Then I saw the January 8th release date. Let's me know all I need to know. I'll still see this but all my hope went out the door.

So I take it this is the obligatory horror movie released every first weekend in January? I wonder why nothing is being released on January 1st though?

I want to see this even though I'm sure it won't be very good. I mean, the first horror movie of January usually isn't. But man, there isn't much to see this month. There's this, and then nothing until The Boy, outside of expanding Oscar films.

I'm surprised the internet hasn't thrown a fit over this already. A white girl going to the infamous suicide forest in Japan? RACIST!111! Then again, everybody loves Natalie Dormer and they're probably going to save their fits for other stuff like 13 Hours and Gods of Egypt.

I think it's because their nothing at all offensive about a woman going to a different country, I think over tens of millions do it every year.

I have a free pass for a screening this week, but the release date has me concerned. Last year, I saw a horror flick early in the year(The Lazarus Effect), and that wound up being one of the worst movies of 2015.

You know what? I really want to see this. I'm not going to pretend that it'll be an amazingly unique experience, or that it'll change the way we look at horror. But Aokigahara Forest is a place that interests me quite a bit and I'm glad we're getting a horror film that takes place there, one that has an actual budget and not another SyFy original movie thing. Natalie Dormer being in it is just icing on the cake. I'm definitely gonna go see it this weekend.
