The intended look and how this movie looks overall, doesn't really lean for UHD. I bet it's not day and night. The Blu-ray was already 4K mastered and kept the film grain alive.

You could say that for a lot of these movies, especially for those that were shot on 35mm film....

I know. There is the first bump. We are dealing here with the film-ish look.
Documentaries shot in 4K will look stunning, with razor sharp images.

Can't wait to see the first comparisons between Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray.

Tempted to get this. But I doubt it's going to be a big change in quality. Not with that much CGI.

If this is the sort of initial release we are going to get with Blu-ray UHD,god help the format ever going anywhere but very niche.

A major superhero film on the eve of the marvel version film coming out is niche?
All the big blockbusters are 2k at least this had a 4k master

If memory serves, Spider-Man 3 was one of the very first films to actually be scanned in 4K, can't remember if it had a 4K finish but I think it may have done. Sony made a big thing about it at the time, I think it was a way of selling people on the idea of "4K"

I see Amazon has Spiderman 2 for 24.99. Do you guys think this is the lowest we are going to see these movies for over the first month that they are released?

I am really thinking about buying it with a few gift cards.

Over the first month? Definitely. If you wait a little while longer, I suppose $19.99 isn't out of the question. But I'd be stunned if it dropped below that for a long time.

Now that according to UHD specs there are no regional restrictions for playback and UHD discs have a huge space, why don't they put all the subtitles available from all BD regional releases of each movie on the same UHD?

What is even more perplexing is why they haven't solved this OTA. So that you could just download whatever language you want your subs to be to the player. If storage is an issue maybe this can be done with SD-cards (of course the players would need SD-card slot).

I buy region A BDs (and theoretically NA UHDs), and don't use subs myself for English or Scandinavian languages, but if I needed them for other languages I would like an option for Swedish.

My idea:

-Different release dates around world.
-Studios want you to visit the cinema first or buy the Blu-ray aftwards in your own country
-Countries that prefer dubbing and replace original audio, or other changes
-A bunch of subtitles would encourage importing

I expected with blu-ray to be able to download the dubbed version, but that never happened. Maybe with ultra blu-ray?
