Default Which Criterion Collection title would you buy if you could only choose one?

Since today is the last day of Barnes & Noble's Criterion Collection sale and they are offering a 30% off one item (online coupon code: 30BFRIDAY), I was wondering which title to pick. If you could only own one title, which one would you choose?

Wow, tough, tough question.

Individual films:

Mulholland Dr. or Hiroshima Mon Amour

Box sets:

The Essential Jacques Demy or Three Colors

Tough question. I went to my Criterion shelf and immediately picked out three must owns. But you didn't ask for three, you asked for one.

So I'm going to pick The Night of the Hunter. I actually bought it blind myself earlier this year, and it knocked my socks off. It immediately rocketed into my top five favorite films of all time. It's beautifully shot and includes tons of bonus features. It's Robert Mitchum at his absolute best. That's my pick.

My recommendation would be for The Night of the Hunter.

My two absolute favorite Criterion titles are actually Army of Shadows and Le Cercle Rouge, but they're sadly out of print at the moment.

That's tought, but I'd say Revanche. A stunning Austrian film that looks and sounds great on BD.

Shoot. The Thin Red Line is another must own, so is Days of Heaven. And then the Charlie Chaplin films, the Akira Kurosawa films....Oh dear.
