I know. I know. Everyone wants the classics (Jaws, Indy, etc), but after reading a thread on how the general public knows very little about HD movies and Blu-ray, I think I've come up with the next big title that should be released on Blu-ray.
The Color Purple. Here's why. It's Warner Brothers. They go exclusive and announce one of their first Blu-ray exclusive titles will be The Color Purple. Oprah gave a performance worthy of an Academy Award, though the film took none despite 11 nominations. Oprah Winfrey is the high priestess of our pop culture. Get her talking about this movie and Blu-ray and you've got a ton of exposure. Any insiders think this would work? |

Yeah, a bit of a misleading title.
I thought the next Spielberg title on Blu-ray would be a Target exclusive. Go figure. ![]() ![]() The Color Purple would be a good title to release, for all the reasons Olarmy states. But it would truly help BD only if it's exclusive. As in Blue. Not Purple. Heh. And I always thought it would be wise of Spielberg to release some of his lesser titles on Blu-ray first. He already did that, to an extent, with Twilight Zone; but that's as small as it gets. No, he should give us The Sugarland Express, 1941, Always, Amistad, The Terminal, or his one unsung masterpiece, Empire of the Sun. Because once the big guns that everyone knows about come to Blu-ray, it'll be too late. |

I'm sure it'll be very high quality grain hehe. And that won't stop me from buying it! I used the DTS DVD version to show off my surround sound system for years. |
