Default HBO's 'Vice Principals' (Danny McBride and Walton Goggins)

Couldn't find a thread for this, so here you go.

Quote:
McBride and Goggins star as rival administrators who have spent their fair share of time as vice principals. Now, both are aiming for the big chair, and the only thing stopping them is the other person. Featuring a delightful supporting cast including Busy Phillips ("Cougartown") and Georgia King ("The New Normal"), "Vice Principals" also offers David Gordon Green ("Joe," "Red Oaks") as director of the first episode.

"Vice Principals" is set to premiere at SXSW Friday, March 11 at the Alamo Ritz 1, with the screening beginning at 8:45pm and a 30-minute Q&A afterward with the creators and selected talent. Everyone else will have to wait until July for their first taste of HBO's other show about veeps. Watch the trailer above and check out the official poster below.

Vice Principals - Will Only Be 2 Seasons Long

Quote:
Fans of “Eastbound & Down” will be happy to know that “Vice Principals,” the new HBO comedy starring Danny McBride, promises the same type of debauchery. “Vice Principals,” however, is settling into the television trend of “short and sweet,” in other words — few seasons.

“The whole series is only 18 episodes and that’s it. We just wanted to make a really long movie. It’s one school year and a complete story,” McBride said at the show’s premiere. “This was an old screenplay that Jody [Hill] and I wrote back in 2006. But we needed it to be longer so we added and reworked it and broke it up into 18 segments.”

“HBO trusted us to make those episodes without anyone watching them, so they really, really trust us,” McBride said.

When asked if they would be interested in making more episodes if the first two seasons go well, executive producer and director Hill had a very simple answer.

“No,” he said. “We already shot the 18 episodes and that’s it.”

I'd be looking forward to this regardless, but it was filmed in my neck of the woods. I may even make an appearance in the show. Danny McBride and Walton Goggins are both incredibly nice off camera. The two season run was definitely planned from the start. As mentioned in the Variety article above, they already filmed both seasons back to back.

Just saw the first 2 episodes of this, and it's comedic gold.

Basically, if you enjoyed Eastbound & Down...you'll really like this.

Danny McBride is basically Kenny Powers 2.0.
Walter Goggins is flexing his comedic chops, and it works so well.

Many many many laugh out louds. I can't wait to see more.

This is something i'm actually looking forward to checking out pretty much like most of what Danny McBride has done and Eastbound and Down was hilarious to begin with even though i missed the last couple of seasons of that show and Walter Goggins is pretty underrated too.

Didn't think it was that funny. McBride's character is kind of jerk and know it all.

There were a few parts that I chuckled.

Goggins character was amusing. He reminded me a gay version of Boyd Crowder. He loves to do that over the top southern accent.

You guys must not be too familiar with McBride's work. He's playing the same exact character from every movie and TV show he's been in.

The Foot Fist Way, The Heartbreak Kid, Eastbound & Down, This Is the End, etc.

And yeah, if you don't like that style of comedy, then it obviously won't work for you. I think McBride is a comedic genius. I think he chooses his roles greatly (if they aren't written specifically for him). I laughed more times in the first two episodes of Vice Principals than any other show in the past 2-3 years.
