COD4 Online Issues - HELP?!

Ok, so I'm trucking along fine playing COD4 until yesterday when it said I needed to load the 1.10 update. So it kicks me out to PS3 XMB and downloads and installs update. I restart game, and then it says it needs to download and install another update on the COD4 server screen...I let that happen and restart the game again. Now everytime I try to start online, it says reading HDD and then goes black, finally coming back a few seconds later saying "You've been disconnected from the Access Point"

I already REALLY messed up in that I thought it might be a problem with the update so I deleted the game file, I think erasing all my hard work on being promoted, and reloading the update. That didn't work...same issue is happening.

What I do know:

1) My wireless network is ok...signal strength is 80-100% at all times
2) I can play UT3 and Warhawk online right now
3) A friend of mine can see me trying to get into the COD4 network each time I try logging on

What I don't know:

1) Is anyone else having this issue?
2) Does this sound like a PS3 hardware/software issue?
