Getting the most from DVD-Audio discs - Blu-ray Forum

Hello all, this is my first post and I just want to start out by saying this is a wonderful forum and I have been browsing the past couple months but finally joined today. I am 100% supportive of BLU and hope to win the war!

Anyway, my question is simply how to correctly get the best sound from a DVD-Audio disc from my PS3. Does the PS3 in fact play the PCM/DTS 96/24 track automatically or do I have to change a few settings on my receiver?

Right now I have the Onkyo HT-SP908 (7.1 set) along with a 46" Sharp Aquos with PS3. If I was to insert a DVD-Audio CD would it automatically show up as "DTS" on my Onkyo or do I have to change settings around a bit to get the full 5.1 track to play?

I am out of town as of right now so I haven't had the chance to actually play around with it and figure it out. I just want to have an idea of how to do it..

The PS3 does not support DVD-audio - only SACD. If you want to play DVD-A discs, you will need a compatible player.

If they do indeed have DTS and DVD-A it should play on your PS3 like The Beatles Love I played a DTS 96/24 on my PS3 don't recall which one and DTS 96/24 was lit up on my receiver.But it won't play DVD-A only disc.

I believe all DVD-A disc also have a DD or DTS track (unlike SACD) that can be played on any DVD player. However, to hear the high resolution track, you need a DVD-A player, and the PS3 is not a DVD-A player.

Wasn't sure of that thanks I have mostly SACD and only a handfull of DVD-A but the DTS 96/24 do sound quite good.
