Yes yes yes yes YEESSSSSSSSSSS!

But these had better be proper new transfers, as the old edge-enhanced-to-shit HD transfer for La Momie will look like dirt if they even try to upscale it. What's that you say? It's from Universal?

Aw, crap.

I think the recent BD re-issues in the US were the old masters, so if these end up with new scans (I know the HDR will make them new masters) and the BDs included are from a minty fresh source, Universal will deserve a kick in the nuts for the BD re-issues.

I haven't been paying much attention, but are there many catalogue UHD BD titles that have the BDs and UHD BDs sourced from different masters? Stuff like Ghostbusters and Labyrinth are all from the same source aren't they?

Yeah, most of the Sony ones have the newer master included on the BD, though some don't e.g. Pineapple Express has the old disc and not the newer Mi4K master. And Fox put both discs of the freshly redone ID4 release into the UHD, which was a very classy touch. Goodfellas came with the new discs in some territories too, while others got saddled with the old disc. Argo looks quite different (in a good way) on the UHD versus the old BD.

But this is Universal we're talking about, and the lack of a new scan for those recent Mummy re-issues is pretty self-explanatory, so the chances of Mummy 1 & 2 being fresh new scans is going down by every second that I think about it. 3 was finished on a DI, so fair enough upscaling that, rather than some old transfer that's getting on for almost 20 FREAKIN' YEARS OLD in the case of Mummy 1. Ugh.

In for the first one only, the sequels didn't do much for me.

LOL !
I literally JUST finished watching these over the weekend. (Blu rays)
Watched the first 3 Mummy movies and The 1st Scorpion King with The Rock.
The only one I would consider upgrading to 4K would be the first mummy movie.
Here are my ratings for the movies:

Mummy - 9/10
Mummy Returns - 7/10
Mummy Tomb of Dragon Emperor - 4/10 (Like Reallllly reallllly bad...)
Scorpion King - 8/10 (Fun move lots of action)

Surprisingly the first Mummy movie had the cleanest and best transfer!

Hopefully these turn out to be decent. At the very least, if you thought the CGI for the Scorpion King in The Mummy Returns couldn't look any worse, I'm sure it will.

I think I'm definitely going to pass on these. The first one had amazing CGI back in the day. I don't really want to see how badly it's aged, especially part 2's CGI end scene. It looked awful upon it's release.

It will be interesting to see what the UHD BD looks like, the HD DVD is still the best the movie's looked on home video, so it will be interesting!

Yup, I've still got my HD DVD rip of 1 (and 2) for that reason. The underlying transfer ain't amazing (far too much EE) but the extra dirt/grain removal for the BD makes it look even more processed. If they take that specific master and upscale it...[shudders]

As long as these are new 4K scans these should look amazing and be must own releases!

It'll certainly be interesting to see how it turns out. I was really hoping the recently released blus would be struck from new 4k scans. If anything, these dithered down to 1080p on my set would probably still be a strong upgrade if they aren't old upscales.
