Default Just jumped into LCD world. Quick ?

Ok, so I finally decided to upgrade my old 26" CRT for my room. Unfortunately I had to go cheap...so I bought a Dynex® - 32" Flat-Panel LCD HDTV. (im actually very satisfied by its performance and the design look is beautiful )

a couple quick questions?

Does anyone know about the "Backlight" feature? Im guessing its an artificial addition to the "Brightness" setting?? The User Manual does not explain it, just says "adjust's the backlight level (1-10)". So am I correct in thinking this affects the overall brightness? and would you receommend lowest setting or highest setting? I used DVE and I thought lower level looked better. Any recomendations as far as this option?

Does anyone know how to get into the service menu? and if so, know of any settings you would tinker with (white levels,color...etc) or do they come set pretty precise?

I know burn in wont affect it, but does an LCD need to be "broken" in like plasmas? Im guessing no.

My last question is in reguards to DishNetwork remote control. Ive had Dish for about a year and a half now...so I know my user manual was made waaay before my LCD came out...so it does not contain any program codes for the DISH Remote and Dynex. Does anyone have a Dynex and Dishnetwork? are there any codes? I would just like to be able to turn on/off the TV and adjust volume with only one remote...my dish remote, is it possible? (I tried using the random remote code search like the DISH user manual says, and it turns the TV off like the manual says it would, but does not turn back on...so the code must not be right)

any other Universal remote that can control DISH and Dynex?

Usually I scavenge the internet to find my own answers...but I cannot find squat on Dynex.

well thanks for any advice and help!
