In late 1996, I remember posting on Usenet a call for Pioneer to put out a digital hi-def laserdisc (rather than the analog HiVision).

I wasn't all that impressed with DVD being merely VGA-level resolution four years after I began using 1280x1024 (XGA) on my computer (1992).

It took 10 years for HDM to finally arrive.
