Default Ninja Scroll Collector's Edition Blu-Ray Unboxing

I've recently received my copy of the Collector's Edition for the Blu-Ray release of Ninja Scroll. It's a very nice set, as it comes in a SteelBook and includes a booklet that's twenty pages long. The video quality is quite impressive, especially considering the age of this anime; it looks better than the current best release of GitS (1995) on Blu-Ray, as it's been cleaned to the point that there's no grain and is quite sharp. However, I must admit that the audio is lacking, as the secondary sounds seem as if they're being played through a tube or down a hall way.

Do the UK and US releases have the same PQ? I own the UK Blu-ray by Manga and IMO this really needs a new transfer cause the DNR applied here makes it look horrible. I can't believe it is supposed to look this way.

Well, I've never seen the Blu-Ray release for the U.S., so I don't know how its picture quality compares to that of the release for the U.K.. However, I personally don't mind the digital noise reduction that's been applied to the image; I think it looks great; the image is clear and sharp and looks quite detailed, which is a great alternative to watching it with countless specks of grain, which would look terrible on my 43" 4K TV.

Those specks of grain would be the same as you would see in a theatrical film print, though. I don't think everything needs to be high gloss.

As for the U.S. BD, I know some people talked about the DNR in it. I don't think it's horrible, though. YMMV.
