Default Blade Runner: Are discs 2 and 4 DVDs?

yea i just bought the 5disc blu ray version, and when i opened it, Disc 2 and 4 were regular DVD Format discs, is this supposed to happen, or do you think it was a manufacturer defect.

anyone else have this problem??

No they ARE supposed to be DVDs. Warner says because it would take up to much more time to make all the special features and documentaries in HD so they just released them on DVD.

Correct... The material is SD, so no point in BD for it.

PS.

Why is SD called SD (Standard Definition). Surely now it should be called LD (Low Definition).

I could only imagine that the material (such as interviews) was shot on a Low Definition camera for the LaserDisc and DVD editions before BD was even a twinkle in anyones eye. So if the material is not in HD, why bother pressing a BD for it.

Also WB is still releasing on HD-DVD, so the setup is not fully optimized for BD.

Wow that's unfortunate you think that way. As if offering every cut of Blade Runner in stunning HD for only 35 bucks is not enough....
