Default Time for retail blu-ray movie pricing to drop!

The BOGO's have been great......but, it's time for the retail end to get a little more competitive on the blu-ray movie pricing.....$34.95, $29.99 is insane for a movie. It's been around for a couple of years now.....let's get the movie pricing down to $19.95 at BB, CC, Walmart, etc. as the standard

I was looking at CC online and they have many blu-ray movies at $39.99....resident evil trilogy is $89.95

Blu-ray would take off even more with better pricing!

Price is not everything, I do not ever understand why people ignore how it went for VHS, DVD, even cds when they first came out.
They will come down when ready, besides anyone who actually pays msrp deserves what they get.

All it takes is patience! Keep a list of the ones you want, and keep an eye out for sales. Amazon has Disney Blu-Rays on sale for $19.99 and some even at $14.99. Just because $35.00 is full retail doesnt mean you have to pay that!

Altough I think the prices are high as well blu-ray is still a small market and that is why you do not see prices around the prices of dvd. Blu is just not in the mass market yet.

I wonder after more people begin to adopt the Blu-Ray format, if their prices will be slower to fall then in comparison to DVD when it caught on?

Reason being that the studios have to invest more money cleaning up the audio/video on catalog films etc. in order to get them presentable in High Def. Which could keep the prices higher for longer.

I guess we will just have to wait and see with the pricing.

openup, you are correct. Blu-Ray is never going to be 2.99 on black friday. People are willing to pay more for things 2-3 thousand for a tv, 500 for a blu-ray player and 20-25 for a disc. the studios saturated the market with too many titles and too cheap of prices in a short amount of time. CD's came down in price 10+ years in and that was because of the internet.

Although prices at some retailers are higher than others, I think with smart shopping you can get discounted prices. For instant, Fry's has some of the best prices on movies (online and in-store). I will usually check their prices first, then check to see if the movie I want is cheaper elsewhere. I will then take a newspaper article or printout of that item to stores (close by) that will price match...most will (Best Buy, Circuit City, Target, etc.). This week alone, Best Buy has a slew of Blu ray movies on sale for $19 including Spiderman 3, Fantastic 4: ROTSS and more.

I agree if they continue with the high prices they will not sell the disc.

If they are not selling them then there is no reason to carry them. When you can get them on line for alot cheaper then its time for them to start bringing down their prices to get people in their store buying BR disc.

I'd be happy with 24.99 at this stage...

the sales from those prices is where I'll be looking..

I would say anywhere from $20 to $25 is reasonable, or $15 or so for older movies. Many people still feel Blu-rays cost $35 or more thanks to stores like Borders, Sears, and other high priced movie places.
