Default Skipping when playing Blu-rays?

Hi, sorry for asking such a n00bie question but has anyone else had an issue where you put in a bluray dvd, it skips parts of the movies for the first few minutes then is fine after that and doesnt do it again? I'm running the latest firmware from Sony.

any advice?

That's not supposed to happen. If it happens with all your BDs, you should have your player checked or exchanged if it's running the latest firmware

You shouldn't skip while playing Blue Rays. You may miss something.

I only have 2 BD disks and both skipped in the first few minutes. When I play regular dvd's, non BluRay, they play just fine..

Ugh I was hoping I didn't have to bring this in to get checked out...

My extension cord is not long enough to get into any real Skipping.

It's all in good fun. No harm intended. It just sounded funny and, well, I couldn't resist. Sometimes things get so serious in here, you just have to throw a little humor in it.

ah I understand completely no worries! I am just concerned witht the player because I spent a good chunk of change on the DVD player. BDP-S300 is the model. Is this something I should take back to Best Buy to get replaced with a new one? Am I the only one who experiences skipping when you play a BluRay dvd player? It only happens for maybe the first 1-5 minutes of the movie...maybe 1 to 3 times total then stops.

I assumed it was because of the bluray loading but I guess not..

loading is one thing, skipping is another. consider bringing it back and if the second does it as well, get a ps3

WHO CARES, don't ruin all of this good news today with your petty BS!

BTW, that was a joke, just exchange it (if under warranty, or within the return period), that is the best option.

Sounds like you need to return your player. I have never even heard of something like this. That Sony is a nice player too!

No, this is not normal. If it skips with all discs (you only have 2, so it could be defective discs, but...) something is wrong with the unit. How could movies skipping on their beggining be a normal thing. That only happens on vinyl Lps with tonearms that have cheap styluses .. So take your unit back and ask for another, and/or check those 2 BDs on another player.

Now, the lesson learned here is not to skip and play Blue Rays. You're going to get hurt.
