Great move on Sony's part. Let's hope this offer extends to the B & M stores.

TV must be bought at SonyRewards.com. Sadly not priced the best.

Their 40 XBR is priced $500 more then the best price I have seen it at other places so you are not saving anything.

If they only price matched.

Default Good timing... Super Bowl sells tons of HDTV's

A TON of new TV's are always sold in the month leading to Super Bowl Sunday. And most of the consumers doing so are not only enthusiasts, but have disposable income.

Just picture Scrooge McDuck with the dollar signs spinning in his eyes and you'll have a good idea what big box retailers think of Super Bowl TV sales.

What one of that WB execs (I forget his name) mentioned in his interview today was that their research showed consumers may be heavily influenced to buy into hi-def DVD when buying their next hi-def TV. (Paraphrasing here.)

To have the studios, the retailers, and especially the media all leaning towards Blu right before a critical buying period makes wise financial sense for all involved. (I can only imagine Universal and Paramount are sending interns to Kinkos right now to get all-new display materials printed up for CES... slight change of color.)

Walk into Circuit City the week before Super Bowl Sunday. I guaran-damn-tee you that there will be Blu-ray displays and promos all over the big screen TV department.
