Default Warner: Short-term HD DVD plans still TBD

looks like hd-dvd movies gonna be delayed a few weeks
Quote:
Although Warner plans to stop releasing new titles on HD DVD as of late May, the studio says it's still formulating plans for how it will issue HD DVD titles until then.

As we first reported earlier today, the studio stated in its initial Blu-ray exclusivity announcement that it would continue to release titles on HD DVD through May of 2008, but that these releases would now follow their Blu-ray and standard-def counterparts by "a short window."

When asked in a post-announcement conference call to elaborate on exactly how long of a delay the studio was planning for its forthcoming HD DVD releases, Warner Home Entertainment President Kevin Tsujihara said the studio was currently working with its retail partners to determine an exact timeline.

As for the continued availablity of Warner's existing HD DVD library post-May, Tsujiharan said the studio hadn't yet reached a decision with regard to its HD DVD back catalog, but that it would likely comply with the requests of its retail partners, saying "if major retailers say that they want something, we typically accommodate them."
