Default CNET recommends refraining from purchasing HD DVD

A whole guide about HD-DVD vs. Bluray...

http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-6463_7-6462511-1.html

Editor's note, January 5, 2008: Because of the recent news that Warner Bros. Entertainment will be exclusively supporting Blu-ray, CNET recommends refraining from purchasing an HD DVD player in the near future. Exclusive support of Warner Bros. Entertainment gives Blu-ray a large advantage in terms of studio backing, leaving only Paramount and Universal as major studios releasing movies exclusively on the HD DVD format. This guide will be overhauled after CES to reflect this and any other news announced at the show.

It goes on here: http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-6463_7-6462511-1.html

Edit: wtf, i didn't read everything and at the end they just say to wait from buying hd dvd and bluray... wtf?

Good, I'm glad they are doing that. There will still be a lot of people that won't know about this announcement.

Some remaining things are going to be happening very, very quickly me thinks.

The next few weeks are only going to get better!

funny. The article uses really old info.. like calling the Wii the Nintendo revolution.

And yet they add this note at the front without updating things like that and prices and studio support.

Right now it really doesn't matter what any HD-DVD supporting companies do, the format will crawl to a halt within 1 month.

Site Admins...

Why are we not putting up a banner at the top of the home page in big letters stating the WB victory news. The news story has already drifted below the fold of the home page. I mean, this is big news and any new comer to the site should see this in BIG BOLD PRINT (CNN.com news syle).

Hehe....

But seriously... people will start hearing about this and come here looking for answers. The biggest news story of the format war should not be already drifting down to the bottom of the page.

Just put it large text right above "ABOUT" on the home page.
That might be what....5-6 lines of HTML and link to the news story.

Talking Just need to read Jan 5, 2008 update

The first paragraph is the one we want most, dated January 5, 2008.
The rest of the story is an old story.

So, the first paragraph says:
Refrain from buying an HD DVD player.
Which is great news for customers who are looking to buy HD players.
They will instead look and buy the Blu-ray players / PS3 or stand alone.

Cheers

The domino effect is now well under way with opinion makers and bloggers shifting their allegiance to Blu-Ray and denouncing HD-DVD. As others have said, the death of HD-DVD could be quicker and more spectacular than any of us had originally imagined.

It's just a question of time.
3-4 weeks and main stores start to sell only Bluray players and movies.
No reason to sell both so Universal and Paramount will forced to switch side BEFORE end of April.
