While going through my titles on the AppleTV TV app (titles in 4k and HDR), I noticed I had one title that when I played it, it wasn't 4k but the HDR flag kicked on.
It was the original Star Trek movie (Chris Pine). Has anyone noticed that? Are there any other titles like that? |

Ghostbusters (original), Close Encounters, Unforgiven, X-Men Rogue Cut, etc. Maybe you don't have your match content setting on? I think out of the box, AppleTV just happily plays everything with HDR on which is crazy. Star Trek 2009 might be an anomoly since I own the original Blu-Ray and the code was probably a SD code when they made you install from the disc. But please, if I am wrong, give me an example of a 1080p movie that plays HDR. I know on the iPhone X, they do. I even did an experiment where I airplayed it from my iPhone X to the Apple TV to see what it would do. It played with HDR but looked awful. |
