Just updated my player... It actually updated like 3 or 4 different firmwares on the player. It went main, loader, then sub F/W. Took about 10 mins to do, so don't think the player froze and turn it off.

I have yet to pop in a DTS disc, as I have to study for my Finance midterm that's in 1/5 hrs. I will provide an update later.

This looks to be significantly newer firmware (Oct 11) so I will update too and see what happens

So is the PQ any better after the firmware upgrade?

Yes it is because the DTS judder is gone.

Looks like the only thing I get out of this is the DTS fix and improved load times. I can't wait until the end of the month, when the NR fix and BD-J updates take place.

There are reports of improved PQ on standard DVD upconversion.

The Sammy could be the player to beat at the end of the month.
with it's lowered price at most places (crutchfield now $799) it's looking more and more appetizing.

Default Update question

I purchased my Samsung three weeks ago and I always had the color dots and no hour glass. Didn't even know there was one. I also watched "Sleepy Hollow" in dts and had no problems at all. Do I still need to do the update?

Thank you!

I think I read on AVS that if your player already is updated it will put up a message when you load the FW disc that the "Loader is the same" no need to update or words to that effect.

I updated last night and watched Stargate with DTS and it looked fine. I never did that before the update so I don't know what I am missing .

Anyways it seems to work fine. Looking forward to more updates...
