Resident Evil Extinction - was more the movie than the BD itself though.

Was it really? I purchased it awhile back but I haven't been able to watch it. I just watched my import of Face/Off and I was a little underwhelmed. It could have just been the directorial style, but there seemed to be a lot of blurring in the background.

EDIT: This was in response to the OP.

Pixar Short film collection , the pq on some of them was quite good but the content itself was fairly average

Any of the 'Entertainment In Video' releases in the UK which include:

The Crow
The Departed
Lucky Number Slevin
Next

All mediocre PQ and standard 5.1.

EDIT - although I should point out 3 out of those 4 are great films though. I'm not criticising the movies, just the BD.

Robocop and That's Entertainment. Robocop PQ is just mediocre almost all the way through. I was really disappointed. That's Entertainment was very erractic. Almost all of the B&W film clips were very, very grainy. For the color film clips, some were just bland and not very distinctive. Others, such as the ones from An American in Paris, Gigi, or Singing in the Rain were significantly better--possibly because the original films were newer and the color quality better.

I though that I would like, but I actually liked it more than I thought I would. Different strokes for different folks! My favorite RE movie by far.

The 2 worst purchases I have made

1) Evil Dead 2 - good movie, horrible atrocious PQ

2) The Lookout - awesome PQ, terrible movie (Blind Buy with BOGO, needless to say it was my last blind buy)

POTC3 did not impress me. Especially when comparing it to Cars, Rata and POTC1,2 for that matter. Grainy video and the audio didn't wow me.

"The Getaway". I own the DVD and I bought the BD before some other titles because it was supposed to have an aspect ratio of 1:85 which should fill the entire screen but this film doesn't, not even close.

Evil Dead 2. The picture quality was very underwhelming.
I think that the movie itself doesn't appeal to me anymore since I quit smoking the doobie.

As far as being a high-def purchase and not film quality related I would have to say The Italian Job was one of the most dissapointing for me. The PQ on that movie was just awful.
