SOrry if this is a stupid question, just needed clarification. I hear everyone say 24fps produces the best Blu-Ray picture. Does the player need to be 24fps or is it the tellevsion that needs to be able to do 24fps? If its the player does anybody know if PS3 is capable?
Thanks for all future responses |

Both must be capable. The player must be able to pass the signal, and the TV must be able to accept and display it. I do not have a set which can do this, but I have seen movies on it, and while a movie like Cars (animated) looks excellent, to me it takes away from the cinematic feel of movies, making them look like cheap 3D theme park movies. Again, this is just my opinion.
Yes, the PS3 can do this. |

I read somewhere else that if you can manage 24fps as intended, it's the way to go, but your comment contradicts this. I only ask because I don't want to go to the effort of making sure I can display 24fps with an expensive projector when I don't need this feature because it looks crappy. Thanks in advance |

Whenever the camera pans across a scene in a 24fps movie, I find the jerkiness annoying. This is true either on my HDTV or in a movie theatre.
I would think that a higher frame rate would have less of this effect, and would be desirable. I don't understand why 24 fps in considered superior. I wonder if the 120 hz motionflow TVs would actually smooth out the pans in 24 fps movies. I have a 24 fps compatible TV (Sony KDL-40V3000) and a PS3 as my BD player.
