I don't think I have seen this analogy, but I see it like this.
Warner Bros. decision to go Blu-ray exclusive = D-day Universal goes Blu-ray = V-E Day Paramount/Dreamworks go Blu-ray = V-J Day So while then end is near, there is still some mopping up to do. For my part I just purchased 7 more Blu-rays from Amazon. |

World War II references:
D-day was the Allied invasion of Europe at Normandy. It was the beginning of the end for the war. V-E Day was the day that the war in Europe officially ended with the surrender of Nazi Germany. V-J Day was the end of the war in the Pacific with the surrender of Japan (though after two nuclear bombs were dropped, thats where the analogy kind of breaks down) This thread is mainly to encourage people to continue to buy Blu-ray, so there is no doubt that we finish off HD DVD and the fact that there are some bad ass Movies out right now. |

D-Day was the allied invasion and it took a great deal of effort to get to the German border. It is more like the Allied resistance during the Battle of the Bulge. The attempt made by Nazis was to break the allied lines, (like HD-DVD trying to get Fox). The offensive failed and they were pushed back, thus loosing ground, (WB). Now the allies are on the German border. The rest of your analogy is correct: Since Universal was the original HD-DVD supporter they are more like Nazi Germany, the original originators of the problem. Imperial Japan is like P/DW as they were brought in after the initial conflict and was more of a sneak attack. |

Haven't seen the analogy about, but I changed my sig on Friday, same general concept, but changed for format specific relevance.

Redstag??
Do you mean red as in HD-DVD red or are you referring to the Reichstag which was and is the name for the German parliament building, where Soviet forces raised their flag after invading Berlin. It is important to note that Reichstag does not refer in anyway to The Third Reich. Currently the parliament is called the Bundestag while the building is still called the Reichstag. http://www.bundestag.de/htdocs_e/index.html |
