Default Toshiba Fire sale at tigerdirect.com

Just got an e-mail from tigerdirect.com announcing a 'Just-in' deal for a Toshiba HD DVD player with 7 free movies for $129.

Sounds like a fire sale to me!!

I just laughed. I couldn't believe it. Retailers are now trying to get rid of these things. I've even spoken to some people who aren't up to the whole blu vs. hd dvd thing and they have said HD DVD is dead. Even some guy at Blockbuster was like HD DVD is dead!! Said they were expanding their blu section!!

I wonder if they'll sell at that price. These are cheaper than the returned ones are selling for at my local Best Buy.

Why doesn't someone with a TigerDirect account write a "review" stating limited studio support because of Warner going Blu-ray exclusive. I did this at the Sears web site and they published it.

Default The Great HD-DVD Player clear out begins?

Just got an email from TigerDirect.com, where they have slashed the price of the Toshiba A3 from $299 to $129. Oddly, it's advertised on the site at $149, but you'll see the lower price if you add it to your cart I guess:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...CCODE=WEM1543C

Is this the start of the great clearing out of inventory of HD-DUD players, just a week after the Warner annoucement? I hope it is. The sooner that HD-DUD is nothing but a bad memory, the better.

EDIT: Damn! Didn't see that I was beaten to it! Good work jnm422

What is more telling isn't the $129 sale price, it is the $149 regular price.

Looks like a certain satellite dish dealer lowered player prices today too (compared present site to the Google cache):
HD-A3: went from $199.99 to $149.99
HD-A30: went from $349.98 to $199.98
HD-A35: went from $449.98 to 299.98

Talking It's real!

I just took a look at Crutchfield's site.

They have great service, selection, and delivery but usually list things at full MSRP much longer than most retailers.

There are only 3 DUD players now and here are their new list/MSRP prices:
  • Toshiba HD-A3 : $149.99 / $299.99
  • Toshiba HD-A30 : $199.99 / $399.99
  • Toshiba HD-A35 : $299.99 / $449.99

I wonder if the "extra" discounts are coming from Toshiba because they've told all retailers to dump them? Or are the retailers doing this themselves?
