Default Cloverfield, what a disappointment

After reading some reviews with some minor spoilers, the movie is just like the American godzilla with vomit-inducing shaky camera. nothing more. The only thing going for it, is Paramount's viral marketing tactic to generate some buzz

edit: sorry for the mispelling --> disappointment

Agreed. Posting a premature review of a movie you haven't seen personally is like a gaming magazine reviewing an alpha or beta copy of a game as if it were the finished product (::cough::PCGamer::cough::cough:.

I'll be there on 1-18-08.

Yeah Petra, how do you review a movie you haven't seen?

I don't care what some reviewer says.

These days, with how nitpicky and anal these internet geek reviewers are, it's almost a given that just about every successful movie will be trashed. For many, they set expectations to such an unrealistic level that the film will never live up to what they've built up in their minds.

In this world of the internet, it's "cool" to think something sucks when the majority likes it.

I can't wait for the negative reviews about Indy 4 and the Dark Knight. Because they're coming....

i'll wait for it on blu-ray. Why should I support Paramount? I hope they lose a lot of money.

I haven't read any reviews besides the Harry Knowles review from Aint it Cool. One of those reviews that makes me wonder what he was smoking.

Anyway, of course the movie isn't going to be great. Why else would they dump it in the slowest movie month of the year? They need as little movie competition to make as much money as they can.

They're releasing it this month because they announced it in June and didn't want audiences to have to wait until next summer or fall to finally be given all the answers (in other words, they were afraid the buzz would die off and box office numbers would suffer). They have quite a bit of confidence in the movie, it seems and I think you might be surprised by it if you actually go and see it.

The only reviews I truly rely upon are my own.
I've seen movies that I heard were crap and still found enjoyable, and vice versa.

Hey, that's good...judge a film before you've seen it.

Meh the media like to build things up and then knock 'em down as overhyped lol

I just judge for myself on things.

I like to see those links that thinks this movie is a disappointment, all the reviews I have read ( just did a search for Cloverfield review and a few popped up ) have wrote that this movie is good to great, not one bad review.

I'm sorry, but I find your post very pro BR fan-boyish because this film is coming from a HD DVD ( for now) studio.

I don't remember the American Godzilla film using the shaky cam on any of it's shots.

I have a feeling what he meant was something like "...the movie is just like the American godzilla with [the addition of] vomit-inducing shaky camera."

Cloverfield was an amazing movie, so different and unique in its own way...you are so wrong about it. How about visually opening your minds to something thats different...unless you think Christmas Vacation should of won an Oscar for best picture...thats a different story
