Default HD-DVD Players returned

I was at my local Future Shop returning a tax program as I needed a more advanced one. Anyway, there was a line up of 7 people in front of me at the returns dept. and 2 of them were returning HD-DVD players (what a warm fuzzy feeling). One of them then proceeded to purchase a PS3, which the store had just set up a display showing it play blu-ray at the store entrance.

totally off-topic: i'm surprised the publisher of QuickTax decided for a exploit the market further by creating a Basic and Standard versions.

on-topic: perhaps those HD-DVD players were Christmas gifts.

That is just so hilarious about people returning their so-called HD DVD players because they know blu-ray is better or the gift was an accident

The best part is not that they are being returned but Cris informs me that since the Warner announcement no hd dvd players have sold. Even the most loyal dudsters in the stores have now admited that hd dvd is a dead format.

For some reason i do not think HD DVD will be overly excited to compare hardware or software sales at the end of the month to see who sold more.

I know what you mean, I am wishing my life away, till the end of the month, to see if the numbers are going to be as good as we all hope.

I thought about returning mine but don't want to go through the hassle of boxing it back up to Amazon. I got a pretty good deal on it originally so I'm not too burnt.
Anyways, I figure these movies will become dirt cheap when they stop making the player and I'll just finish off my collection and keep the piece of format history in my entertainment center next to the PS3 blu-ray player.

If those garbage players drop to $50 and the discs go super cheap, I might actually get one.

Traitor! j/k, but seriously, all the movies will be out on blu soon enough so why spend any money on a dead format???

I'll put it right next to my Betamax. One of these days I need to convert them to DVD.

Yeah.. Yeah.. but TEH 169$CAD A3 WILL SAVED US! MAN!

Man.. At walmart they are 199$CAD Venturer... and Toshiba dropped the A3 to 169$. I mean Venturer must be pissed since it's the same model but the A3 have a WAY nicer Chassis...

If the DUD players get any cheaper, it won't be worth the price of gas to return them.

For sure. And, depending on the store, how strictly they enforced their return policy (remember this happened not long after Christmas), and the people running the registers, they might find that more of those players actually came in the door than went out!
