Default TV stand recommendations

Can anyone recommend a good TV stand to house the components below? The one I have now is a little too cramped and shallow.

50" Samsung LED DLP
Directv HR20
Onkyo 605
PS3 80gb
Klipsch center channel speaker
Monster HTS 2600 Powercenter

I use a bush stand with my 61 innc samsung LED DLP.
Not sure what the dimensions are on some of your equipment though.
There is a forum for the LED DLP over at AVS. And stands recommendations have been discussed before over there.

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...9&page=1&pp=30

Just do a search for Bush and you will see plenty of info on it. there are also some pictures posted of peoples LED DLP on the stand.

I know I like the bush one because it it the glossy black like the samsung TV.
It is open though, not a closed stand like others.

It also tends to have more space than the other ones do. Best Buy usually havs them in stock so you can get dimensions.

I got a "Z-Line Designs" stand at Circuit City a few years back. I don't know if the model I have is still available, but a search on their site has a nice model for 50" TVs. Z-Line Designs Zen 50"

I dig the look of many of the BDI pieces. They have several all oak component and TV and media stands.

Does anyone with young kids have any recommendations for stands? Right now I have an open stand and my 1yr old like to go to it and push any buttons that light up. We have to block it with a baby gate. I was thinking of something with glass dorrs and wondering if the IR remotes will work through the glass. I am also worried about the heat inside an enclosed cabinet like that sine the PS3 and 605 get so hot.

I don't subscribe to the theory that barbed shouldn't be electrified. It leaves a lasting impression beyond the jolt.

I know more than just me thought of this. Don't judge me because I posted it!

I don't think that will match the look of my living room!

Alas, this was my problem, too. I bought this. It was a cheap, temporary fix for our living room, but once we changed out the hardware (those pull knobs are ugly) it actually looks decent.

IR remotes work just fine through glass, but you are right about the heat. I put our new PS3 inside the left shelf and within an hour it sounded like a jet engine trying to take off--it's just starved for cool air. So we put it in the middle.

Was contemplating replacing the doors with some good-looking mesh to allow better airflow, but my 1 y/o son is getting much better about not touching the buttons. A nice, quick, loud "NO" from mom or dad is enough to freeze him in his tracks. I love holding that kind of power over people... until I remember that those people still eat mushy Cheerios and crap in their pants.

We're awaiting a decorator this month to come in and do some work. I have asked him to incorporate one of the Salamander Designs into his mock-up for the living room, and we'll get that. I'm impressed with their stuff.

That Bush piece looks like a good idea. Do you stand the PS3 up in the middle or sit it horizontal?

My daughter is drawn to the PS3 for some reason, even when it is off. She has learned exactly where to push to turn it on. I guess she likes to get her fingerprints all over the shiny black thing.

Studio Tech is expensive, but I think this stand is gorgeous. Supposedly excellent quality. It's the one I'm planning on getting. http://www.tvstands.com/StudioTech-U-22T-SO0133.html

We've got the PS3 laying down horizontally on the top-middle shelf, and the center channel is below it. (The left and right shelves are adjustable... the middle shelf is static, so my center only fit on the bottom one since it's taller.)

It's cool that your daughter has already started figuring out electronics. All 3 of our kids do the same every chance they get (my 3 y/o has her own iMac). You could build a mesh door that hinges up or down on that particular shelf. Probably less than $20 in materials from Home Depot.

I really like this entertainment center because it's nice and sturdy (it is a heavy sunnuvagun). Plus you can cut out extra holes in the back and install some of those super-quiet 80mm fans for extra airflow.
