Default Sony HTSF2000 thoughts and comments

I set up my system a couple months ago and would like to hear other peoples opinion on the system.

Prior to this audio system I just had my PS3 hooked up direct to my XBR4. When I hooked up the receiver I noticed a deteriation in video (motion blur). After a couple hours of messing around with settings I swapped the HDMI cable I was using and "WOW", perfect! Just goes to show you that all HDMI cables are not equal. That being said the new cable will not sync the two devices so I cannot control them w/ one remote. Funny because the other cable did but could not transfer the video quality.

I've noticed that sometimes when I put in a DVD or BD the sound will not adjust automatically to the source. I've had to turn the system off and back on so it will pick up the correct audio setting. Not sure if I'm explaining that right but it's kinda weird. I also have my motorola cable box hooked up to it via HDMI 1.3 and it won't pick up the HD audio signal at times, again, I need to turn it off and on. In these cases it still plays the sound but lets me pick the format until it recognizest the HD 5.1 signal.

When this system is running correctly it sounds good, however, I think it plays the rear surround speakers too low through the microphone automatic calibration. Fortunately you can adjust this manually by inputting the distance away from the listener (I increase the distance to increase the volume or presence).

The one thing I can not figure out right nw is how to play my MP3s off my PS3 through the receiver so that it utilizes the 5.1 speaker set up...even if it is just dual stereo.

If anyone has questions please ask and I can try to answer.
