Perhaps Lionsgate will pick this up, since it's a Studio Canal release in Europe.

Who even has the US rights to this? If it's still with Paramount (I can see a tiny mountain on the poster) then a US release isn't likely.

Not sure if I should grab this or hold out for the eventual Criterion treatment.

Last DVD release here in the US was Paramount so yeah US release not likely.

If a there's a deal for a Criterion release then definitely no.

US release, ShmooS release... UHD is region-free, baby!

And I don't care about Criterion (unless and until they get their act together); I needs my 4Ks.

Every DVD and BD release has had that optically zoomed in moment, on one of the doctor's first couple visits to see The Elephant Man. Always wondered what they were avoiding showing, boom mic, member of the crew whatever.

Let's hope this will be the year of David Lynch on UHD.

Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me all have 4K restorations ready to go. He's one of the few artists that I want everything he's ever done in the highest possible quality. Well, Kubrick too!

Criterion Blu could be terrific, like Warner Archive, but apparently they are too proud to hire someone with skill to handle encoding. I suppose I do wonder what would happen if they released some 4K.

I have a collection of just over 100 Criterion blurays. It's a huge part of my movie collection and I'm really happy with the variety and content of the discs. That said, my Criterion Collection is complete. I used to dream of the day they went 4K but as I've grown accustomed to more competent encodes that has changed. I don't plan on buying any more of the blurays and at this point I'm not interested in seeing them put out 4K releases. If any movies from the collection make it to UHD I'd much rather see it from another studio.

I hope. I’ve been holding out on Criterion’s “Blue Velvet” in a glimmer light of hope for an UHD.

Sounds like a no then..

If the international release doesn't have rating logos plastered all over it (yeah I'm a weirdo who cares about what the cover looks like) then I'm in. Seems like every single country other than US has them though.
