Default I like to laugh at the opposition!

A little anecdote to let you all know how I continually laugh at the other guys.

Earlier this week I received my Onkyo 805. In setting it up I came to discover that I could rename the different inputs and have that display on the receiver's display. So, here's what I labeled some of my inputs...

#1. My HD DVD player (which I won and only use to upconvert DVDs while my PS3 FOLDS@HOME) displays "HD DVDead" while it's in use. Constant access to giggling while not indulging in Hi-Def content.

#2. My Xbox360 (which I grabbed on impulse because it was the Arcade version for $240) displays "Xbox3FixMe" while it's in use.

Aaaaaaaaaaaah... the joys of riduculing the weak!!!

I wanted to use "CrapBox3FixMe" but it wouldn't fit in the field. I can't take full credit though. Somewhere, in some forum, I saw somebody else use the term and it stuck.

360 is a fun console, but it is nowhere near the ps3 on a hardware level.

Mine served it's purpose with 'Gears Of War', 'Bioshock', and 'Guitar Hero II' (strictly because of the achievement factor). Now that I've played 'Gears Of War' and 'Bioshock' fully through and 'Rock Band PS3' has clobbered 'Guitar Hero II', I came to realize that it may not have been worth the $240.

Mass Effect and Too Human should keep the 360 going. I've personally considered picking up a 360 just for Gears, Bioshock, Mass Effect, and Too Human. Guess I could just get Gears and Bio Shock for my PC, but who knows how they'd run and that wouldn't solve the problem of wanting to play the others.

Maybe I'll pick them up one day if the next xbox is backwards compatible as I can't say I really need another gaming system.

Petra,

That is hilarious. I should do some re-naming on my 705.

I'm thinking HD Doh!

I have a bit of a funny story on the 805 input names. I was saving for a Yamaha RX-Z11 and decided I'd pick up an 805 to tide me over when it dropped to $775 at Circuit City back in November (yes, I know I can get it online for cheaper). Although I loved the 805, I decided to return it fearing that holiday spending would dig into my RX-Z11 fund. Well, come Dec. 31st I was really missing the 805 so I decided to head back to CC to see if they were having any year-end deals. They weren't, and in-store price was a whopping $1099. I was about to leave when I saw an open box 805 on clearance. I asked an associate how long it had been sitting out, and he indicated since the first week of Dec. I wasn't interested at that point figuring some joe-blo had it for 30 days and it had been sitting out for almost another 30. I was about to leave when the associate started pushing the input buttons, when low and behold the "Game/TV" input displayed "PS3/BD". That's what I named the input! It was the unit I returned. I never would have thought it would have still been there with the holidays abound. I ended up getting a killer deal on it.

My boss is a gamer and knows that I'm into Playstation... so when the 360 came out two years ago, he managed to get two of them and sold one to me... and couldn't turn him down coz he's my boss and he paid a lot of money for it because he thought that I would want it... so I bought it from him... I took good care of it, keeping dust away and keeping it cool... I had good times with it. A year later, I got my PS3 and stopped playing the 360 all together. I gave it to my cousin... 1 week later, it Red Ring-ed. Oh well...

Out the door for just over $600

Edit: whoops, I forgot, that includes a $50 gift card at that price, so just over $650 w/o the gift card.
