So when you say run away you mean click on and then post to the thread about the thing from which you're running away?

Interesting approach.

I was interested too, till I saw Abrams' name. When the best somebody can manage over two decades plus is THE FORCE AWAKENS, that's pretty bad news IMO. I almost uniformly despise his stuff, without even getting into the mess he made with his two alleged TREK movies. Bye now.

Relax, Abrams isn't writing this stuff, the two dudes who wrote Castle Rock are. It might turn out okay.

So you read the thread title, decided you weren't interested and then clicked on and posted to the thread.

Why?

Those “hot takes” aren’t going to post themselves.

All three of these Bad Robot/HBO Max projects sound like they could be pretty good.

Even if I were a knee-jerk JJ basher I think I'd be inclined to give HBO the benefit of the doubt. Watchmen, Euphoria, Westworld, The Outsider, Avenue 5...they've been on a pretty good tear lately.

I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt because it’s HBO, and if he’s not writing it, it might be good.

I used to not mind J.J. Abrams (I actually like his two Star Trek films and Super 8). But he’s played all his good nostalgia cards already. I though TROS was a train-wreck story and characters-wise. I think he’s an excellent director but he shouldn’t be writing or coming up with stories anymore. It’s hurting him and the franchises he’s worked on more than helping them.

For the smart asses commenting on my original comment.

The end of the thread title is not visible on the homepage so all I saw was overlook the shining spinoff...

So my point stands. I got slightly interested, clicked on the thread and saw it was by our man JJ. Easy enough to understand?

It's HBO Max, not HBO. WB just threw HBO in the title to make it sound prestigious... We don't know the caliber of HBO Max yet to decide if it's a good thing or bad thing.

Duster doesn't sound interesting, but I'll check out the other two.

I'd check this show out. I really liked Doctor Sleep and recently read Stephen King's novel of the Shining for the first time (I'm a fan of the Kubrick film and had seen the ABC miniseries back in the 90s).

I wonder how much they'll tie this into the Kubrick film with regard to set design, tone, etc. If they try to do their own thing, I wouldn't mind seeing a new miniseries adaptation of The Shining.

So you weren’t able to read the thread title and then clicked on the thread, then decided you weren't interested in the thread and posted to the thread. Ran away. Came back to post on the thread again.

Why?

True. Either way, we’ll have to wait and see. Still giving it the benefit of the doubt regardless.

If it's a spin-off from the novel, I'm in. If it is related to Kubrick's film, I'll pass. (The link is dead, so I can't read more info.)
