Default Stupid Wal-Mart employee

So I just came back from Wal Mart and besides not having ANY HD movies, they also have one of the dumbest employees I have spoken to. So I am at the electronics department looking at video games cause hey, thats just what I do, and I see a woman talking to a employee about systems and HD media. The employee is telling her the difference between the 360 and its HD DVD add on and the PS3 with its built in Blu drive. First he says "you can always get a Blu ray add on for the 360, oh I mean HD DVD add on" so I continue to listen on the conversation. Finally I add my opinion that although I have both systems, the PS3 is the better buy as a media device, hard ware wise, and of course Blu ray. I tell the woman that Blu Ray has won which the employee says "well, not yet it hasn't" to which I respond "yes, Blu has won WB exclusivity" and he says "NO they don't, WB announced at CES that they will support both and they took back their statement on Blu exclusivity". I realized he was giving her false information so I just told her that the PS3 is the better device, and Blu will be the new generation format and walked away after laying it in to the doufas.

I had an idiot GameStop employee tell me something similar about Warner today. He stated that he heard on G4 that WB is going to stay neutral. Apparently he was hearing some FUD somewhere but I find it hard to believe it was from G4. The last time I watched g4, they were making fun of HDDVD and the WB announcement.

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the pillow as for butting in or out, if I was spending 4-500.00 on a device, I would appreciate somebody who had both systems I was contemplating purchasing to give me their input. I also would want to know that the employee who I was trusting to give me truthful information actually knew what he was talking about. How about this, next time you read a post on here that you don't like, you butt out

Am I posting it because I know it all? No way. However I have read other peoples stories and thought I would tell my experience. Didn't know that doing so would be seen as such a sin, although I will take the reception of this into consideration in the future.

Thanks,
Alan

Don't listen to these guys bro. You didn't do anything wrong and was just preventing a grossly misinformed employee from misleading an innocent customer. There are many other threads here about people educating consumers and employees alike on the format war so continue to post your stories as long as you do it respectfully to both employee and consumer.

And to all the new guys, you better check your attitude at the home page, there's no need to be rude. If i was an admin, you would be getting somewhat of a reprimend. And to the point that your not adding nothing to the thread .

I'm with you on this one Alan. Employees in retail are the most relied upon source of information for the general public. The percentage on online research is definitely growing, but not quick enough. Telling of these experiences helps the masses to understand that we need to interfere for the sake of the consumer in situations like the one you encountered. If Walmart had a public location to access the internet, I would have even dragged the employee and customer over to show them the facts. That way my fellow consumer is more confident in their decision making process and the employee will learn the truth so as not to mislead others.

Thanks Petra, what you stated was my entire point in doing what I did. It isn't like the customer is spending 10.00 on an item, but rather hundreds and spending that much money should allow the person to have confidence in the product they are purchasing. Being an employee at the biggest company in the world and representing the electronics department should mean that the individual isn't spouting false information. Therefore, if a customer has to state the truth to a fellow customer, so be it.

Haha. Stupid people entertain me and Walmart always seems to have an abundance of them.

The man wasn't eavesdropping he was helping a consumer that was dealing with a total idiot.

Id be thankful if someone would help me out in areas I am less knowledgeable in and not some stupid info from a dork. To OP you did great.

To the two new low post fools who criticized you, well let's just say your not endearing yourself to this site.
