Default best hdtv set for my ps3

ok now ive always loved sony but im wondering what is the best people to buy a hdtv from? sony,sharp,toshiba,panisonic,....ect???
so far i can tell you i hated the mitsubishi i had........yuck....and i had a sammy dlp 1080p set and i looked great but i hated the dnie, it made my games look like crap and make everything so damn black (yes i tried game mode and that just washed out the picture i though) so im done with mitshu and samsung (although i did see a lcd with a high contrast ration running at BB and it looked insane but i didnt see a game running on it). so anyway im a sony guy but is there any other hdtv that looks better then a sony?

The xbr series by Sony is the (in my opinion) best of the best.
That comes with a price though.
Sammy's are supposed to be right up there too.

I know you said you don't like Samaung DNIe but I have the LN-T4061F and I'm very pleased with it. And per some recommendations on the HDTV calibration thread on here I do have the DNIe turned off and I actually have all of the "Special Features" turned off. I do admit though when I first got it I had everything turned on 'cause I thought it was all supposed to help. My blu's even looked wierd but now that everythings turned off it sure is purty Hope that helps at least a little

You might take a look at a Pioneer Kuro, the PQ is just off the charts on these.

wait a bit for them to release, and have a look at Panasonic's bigger LCDs. if they are anything like their 32 inchers, I think you'll like what you see. I have the 32 TC-LX700 myself, and It is quite wonderful.

Does Panasonic still make LCDs?

+1 can't beat 'em and ignore the rumor or myth that you can't play video games on plasma's. I had a guy come into work the other day saying he played his ps3 on a plasma he bought and that had voided the warranty according to the manufacturer. I promptly smacked him.

yes.

for 2007 they had two 32 inchers and a 26, all 720p, in the U.S. The TC-LX700 is the one with 120hz and it takes 1080p 24 signals. It also has an Alpha-IPS panel in it which is the only LCD i've seen that basically loses nothing at any angle. Excellent TV (I have one).

Europe also got a 1080p 37 inch in '07, but it lacked 120hz and 1080p 24.

for 2008 they will be releasing a 40 or 42 inch 1080p (can't remember which) and a 1080p 32 inch. they are also rumored to be adding PC inputs finally.

I recently bought a Sammy 4671F to go with my PS3. I am extremely pleased. I have previously owned Philips, JVC, and Sharp. I would not recommend any of those brands over Samsung or Sony. My Sharp LCD had serious issues with PS3 gaming, which in part led me to get my Samsung.

I am admittedly LCD biased, but the Pioneer Kuro undeniably has the best picture on the market. Of course, that is truly in the eye of the beholder and it definitely comes with a premium price, but they are outstanding TVs no doubt. Since I'm not a stickler about black levels and rather about weight, screen, and heat, I have gone with LCD for my last 3 HDTV's. You'll hear a lot of guys here recommend Sony XBR4 series vs. Sammy 4661/71/81 series. I'll be the first to tell you these sets have virtually the exact same features and undistinguishable picture quality differences. I stood in Circuit City for ~3 hours staring at the Sammy and Sony side by side, and personally chose the Sammy because of price, the swivel base, aesthetics, and the great on-the-fly picture controls.

It is truly a personal preference deal and only you know what's right for your setup, tastes, and pocketbook. My best advice is to not pass up checking out the Sony XBR4 and Samsung 4661/4671. Go to a retail store and check them out in person and come to a decision the good old fashioned way.

Good Luck!
