Default Best region combination of players?

Currently I have a region B 60GB PS3, it suits almost all my needs except being able to watch region A movies.

So I was thinking, if I bought a region A Blu ray player, would I benefit from a standalone, or just a 40GB PS3 from the States.

Also is there any new additions we are waiting for on standalone players?

I noticed recently someone sells region free players now (engadget reported on it I think) but they cost more than 2 PS3's anyway, which defeats the objective imo.

Thanks,

Richie.

Probably just another PS3 because it looks like the cheapest and most updated player there is out at the present time.

I would recomend a Panny BD30 for you. It's a good standalone player with PQ a little better than the PS3. Are you going to buy on Ebay? I don't know of any sites that post electronics to the UK.

If you buy from Ebay won't you have to pay really high customs to get it in the UK? I heard that British customs charges really high for any merchandise coming into the country.

I would recomend searching on Ebay UK for a british seller who has a region A player. I've seen them before and it is rather common.

I have friends in the USA who will mark the value down so that customs do not bother me. I very rarely pay customs. The last time was about 8 years ago. To be honest I don't know what people do wrong that they get caught all the time.

Some websites even have a special option to get around it hehe.

How do you get around it? I thought that anything over 18pounds will get charged a fee?
