The BD30 can only send TrueHD and Dts-HD MASTER via bitstream, but since your receiver cannot decode, it may not be the ideal player, but if you ever intended on buying a new receiver, this player would be great.

Nonetheless, you said you didnt want to buy a new receiver, maybe consider the Panasonic DMP-BD10AK or the Sharp BDHP20U which have internal decoding of TrueHD...and connect them with the Multichannel Analog.

whats your receiver model? just to make sure you do have analog inputs.

As far as setting, it would be Multichannel (everything would be decoded inside the player as PCM)...there might even be a button on your remote?

yes, you can connect to a Bluray player via Multichannel Analog to get Lossless audio. (as long as player can decode TrueHD or Dts-HD MA...all Bluray players can already pass Uncompressed PCM)
